Memorial Testimony #1 |
Dear saints, We’ve just come back from Riga, Latvia, where we attended the funeral and a memorial meeting of our 3 precious brothers, Sergey Seenyakov (37 years old), Victor Korenchenkov (35 years old) and Victor Dovgalyuk (20 years old) who got into a car accident and went to be with the Lord on the Lord ’s Day February 11, 2007. There were around 300 people in the funeral itself, including the relatives and friends of these brothers, (there were about 40 Victor D.’s classmates and some of his teachers present), saints from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Slovakia, Russia, Ukraine, USA, Venezuela and some other countries. There were also some new ones gained through the GMR 2007 seminars in Tallinn, Estonia, where the brothers spent their last month on this earth shepherding these new ones for the establishment and building up of the church in that city. After the funeral there was a memorial meeting that lasted about 4.5 hours where the saints were testifying of the three brothers’ living and service in the church life and particularly in the GMR 2007 for the building up of the Body. This fellowship continued the next day after the corporate Lord’s Table meeting of the church in Riga. The testimonies of the saints showed us a marvelous picture of the three overcomers who truly loved the Lord and His Body, were consecrated to the Lord, and served Him in the church life with their whole households (Sergey and Victor K. have their wives, and 4 and 3 young children respectively). Many testified they felt these brothers, although relatively young in their age, were ready to meet the Lord because they were the Firstfruits (Rev. 14) in their living, and they became a part of the Man-child (Rev. 12) in their passing away. Through the sharing of the saints it was absolutely clear that the death of our dear brothers was not an accident — it was God’s sovereignty whose arrangement in our brothers’ lives was the best for the sake of His economy and for the building up of Body of Christ. All three brothers were normal saints in the church life in
Riga and the real patterns to many in their Christian life and church
life, in their words and conduct, in the way they enjoyed the Lord both
individually and corporately, spent time with the Lord in His word, preached
the gospel, opened their homes for the saints, loved the saints, visited
the saints, shepherded the saints cherishing and nourishing them, ministered
the word to the saints for the building up of the church, were in one
accord with the brothers, were faithful in their service in the church
life, participated in the GMR 2007 despite of their families, jobs and
school (Victor D. was a college student, and Sergey and Victor K. were
working brothers) loosing their soul-life for the sake of the Lord and
the gospel to save it in the kingdom age (Mrk. 8:35). And when they finished
their course of one month in Tallinn preaching the gospel of the kingdom
and shepherding the new ones into the church life they were taken by
the Lord when they were singing and resting in the Lord on the way back
home. Although outwardly we were grieving, inwardly we were all filled with the resurrection life the sweet fragrance of which was spreading through the prayers and sharing of all the saints. Both the funeral and the Memorial meeting were filled with thanksgiving and praises to the Lord! This indestructible resurrection life was manifested especially through the testimonies of the brothers’ wives and parents. Sister Zhanna (Sergey’s wife) testified she praised the Lord for everything. Sister Rinata (Victor K.’s wife) said she was stirred up by this situation to love the Lord and pursue Him more to gain Him as her husband did. Brother Ivan (Victor D.’s father) said “Amen!” to the Lord and the brothers when he lost his son, and he also testified that in his heart he considered all the three brothers as his own sons. Many of us have been quite impressed with the sweet atmosphere of love, oneness and the one accord among the saints in the church in Riga. Their testimonies manifested their first love, strong consecration to the Lord, and progress in the growth in life. The Lord also used this event for the blending of His Body. Various saints in the Lord’s recovery all over the world have responded to this situation through their prayers, giving and coming. The brothers encouraged the church in Riga to stay open for the fellowship of the universal Body to meet all the needs related especially to the families of the brothers in the weeks, months and years to come. This event has had a great impact on all of those who participated in it. One brother said that for him to be in the Memorial meeting was more than to be in 10 conferences. These words are true with many of us who were there. During all the gatherings and sharing at this time the seven eyes of the Lamb (Rev 5:6) as the seven Spirits of God were observing and searching in our being, burning and judging by enlightening, infusing and transfusing something of God into us producing in us the great searchings of heart and great resolutions in heart (Jdg 5:15-16) to be the Lord’s overcomers for the accomplishment of His eternal purpose to build up His organic Body on the earth in this age and to bring Him back. May the Lord encourage us to pray for the church in Riga and for the families of our dear brothers, and also for the dear sister Solvita, who survived the accident and is now in the hospital in Riga with some broken bones (she is enjoying the resurrection life in and through the Body). Brother Andrey (from the church in Moscow). |
